So how can you go about choosing a veil?

Initially you will need to have your wedding dress. Your veil should compliment your dress and never over power it. Also if you decide to have beads or lace on your veil you can be certain that it matches your dress.

Patterned or plain Veils: Should you have a highly detailed dress then rather opt for a simple veil. Otherwise but if your dress is plain you'll be able to choose a patterned veil that should accessorize and enhance your dress.

Single layer veil: This veil was designed to be worn on the back of the head only and not over the face.

Two layer veil: This veil has a longer piece that can be worn behind as well as a shorter section comes forward covering the face. That part is known as the blusher.

Below are the several veil lengths and a description for each:

Fly Away: Known as a shoulder length. This is the shortest length of veil. Best for day weddings or perhaps for dresses with a lot of detail at the back.
Blusher: This is the veiling that covers the face when you finally walk down the isle. Depending on the different religions, the blusher is usually worn covering the face during the ceremony or pulled back over the bride's face. The blusher often is any length.

Elbow: The elbow length veil is simply that, a veil that reaches the bride at the elbow.
Fingertip: You guessed it, this length reaches the brides fingertips or located on the hand.
Ballet: This particular length reaches the brides body somewhere between her knees and calves. This veil also can be sometimes termed as a waltz veil.
Chapel: This veil extends all the way to the floor. The width of the veil can vary from 56 inches to 108 inches wide, based on the width of your dress or personal preference.
Cathedral: This is the longest veil length and extends well past the end of the dress train. Excellent for a dramatic walk down a long aisle. Cathedral veils will add drama to a plain dress.

Always remember how your dress is designed. Should you have layers in your dress, your veil could possibly be the same length as one of the layers or if the bodice intersects the skirt at your waist your veil will finish at your waist. It will help keep your whole look balanced.
